Created back in 2022, the NRKL provides a middle ground between indoor karting and 2-stroke arrive & drive karting at an affordable price. The series visits some of the top circuits around the north of the country, as well as a 'fly-away' round to visit one of the top southern circuits. It provides an opportunity to race on some unique circuits, in a controlled environment.

To keep things fair, the championship uses 3 minimum weights: Featherweight, Lightweight & Heavyweight. To allow drivers to make the weights, artificial ballast is allowed including weighted seat inserts. For 2024, each class will have it's own grid, built using a random grid format, designed to give drivers a start at the front, in the middle and at the back of the field.

For 2024, the championship will feature 8 rounds at some of the top circuits around, including a trip over the boarder to Larkhall in Scotland.
